Full of famous choruses – such as the great Hallelujah – and based on Italian folk songs and carols, Handel’s Messiah tells a story of wonder and triumph. Experience this timeless masterwork in its earliest version, as conceived by artistic director Mark Bailey, on Saturday, February 9th at 7:30pm. Snow date: February 16th, 7:30pm

Pre-Concert Talk by Mark Bailey, ABO Artistic Director
After years of research into Handel’s own facsimiles, Mr. Bailey has reconstructed Handel’s earliest vision of Messiah. He will discuss the experience of Handel’s initial ideas for Messiah, what it was like in Handel’s first performances of Messiah and other aspects of the liturgical, musical and historical context of this timeless masterpiece. Free, in St. John’s Hubbard Hall.
