Cameron Johnson Memorial Organ Competition in Storrs, Connecticut, and second place in the Biennial High School Competition at the Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival in Hartford. As a child, he was inspired by the sound of the Austin organ at St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford, where he gained foundational skills from music director Scott Lamlein. For two years he then served as organist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He currently plays organ part time for the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. He studied with Peter Sykes at the Advanced Pipe Organ Encounter in Worcester, Massachusetts in July 2025, and has studied in master classes with Bruce Neswick and Damin Spritzer. Philip also plays the violin and piano, with a particular affinity for all things Bach.
